Mango-Thyme Panna Cotta Recipe
Panna Cotta is a silky and flavourful chilled dessert that is easy to make.
You can add whatever flavors you like and top it with any fruits and berries of your choice. In this particular Recipe we used Vanilla, Mango, and Thyme flavors and it turned out amazing!
Panna Cotta can be prepared in advance and stored in the fridge.
Prep Time: 30 min
Setting Time: 1 hr to overnight
Servings: 3 to 6
Equipment: Pot, 8 oz (236 ml) Jars or other containers/ramekins
Making the Eggless Custard:
In a pot combine 1 cup (240 ml) Whole Milk & 2 1/2 tsp (7 g) Gelatin Powder. Stir and set aside for about 15 minutes.
Add 1/3 cup (60 g) Sugar. Stirring occasionally, heat the mixture to a before-boiling point. Do not let it boil. Take a pot off the heat.
While the mixture is still hot, add 1 cup (240 ml) Heavy Whipping Cream & 2 tsp Vanilla Extract.
4. Divide Panna Cotta between containers of your choice. I used 8 oz (236 ml) Jars.
5. Cover with lids or food wrap and refrigerate until it sets. It may take 1-3 hrs. I left mine in the fridge overnight.
Meanwhile, let's prepare our Topping:
6. You can use any fruits and berries you like. I decided to go with Mango this time.
Cut 1 small Mango or 1/2 of a bigger one onto pieces.Simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
7. Add 5 Sprigs of Fresh Thyme. Keep simmering for another 5-10 minutes or until Mango pieces soften.
8. Take a pot off the heat, remove Thyme Sprigs. Let the Mango Puree cool down before refrigerating it.
Assembling Panna Cotta the next morning:
9. Place Mango Puree on top of the Custard in each container.
10. I decided to go fancy and used my sandwich cutter to cut out little hearts from fresh Mango and Pineapple. You can skip this step or simply cut your fruits in cubes.
11. Decorate with Fresh Thyme Sprigs. Now, you can eat your Panna Cotta right away as I did or cover it and refrigerate for the next day.
12. Enjoy!
